GUIDE · PLANNING

The best time to post on YouTube is in your own data

What YouTube says about publish time, how to find the hours your own uploads did best, and how to test one slot. Redexa Social plans; it does not schedule.

What YouTube itself says

YouTube’s help centre is explicit: publish time is not known to affect a video’s long-term performance. It matters for early views and for Live and Premiere videos, and YouTube Studio’s Audience tab has a report, When your viewers are on YouTube, for choosing those times. Any universal “best hour” is an average of other people’s channels.

What your own uploads can add

Your viewers’ online hours are one input; the hours your own uploads actually did well are the other. Redexa Social’s posting-window chart averages the views of your latest 10 uploads per channel by the hour they went live, in UTC, and adds a day-by-hour map. It names an hour only after 6 uploads with views and at least 2 in that hour, and it ignores uploads still at zero views.

Turn it into one test

Pick the strongest candidate slot, convert it from UTC to your time, and publish your next two or three similar videos there. Schedule the upload in YouTube Studio: Redexa Social reads analytics and has no publishing permission. Compare those videos with similar ones at the same age, then keep, move or drop the slot.

Step by step

  1. Link your channel. In Redexa Social open Link account › YouTube and sign in with the Google account that owns or manages the channel. The access requested is read-only.
  2. Collect fresh data. Press Refresh. While the window is open the app also refreshes on its own every 60 minutes.
  3. Read the posting windows. Open Analytics and read Best posting hours (avg views) and Day and hour. Both are part of Pro and Studio; until enough uploads have views, the app says how many more it needs.
  4. Convert from UTC. Add your time-zone offset to the hour shown: 18:00 UTC is 20:00 in Rome in summer and 19:00 in winter.
  5. Schedule in YouTube Studio. Set the publish time of your next upload in YouTube Studio, then compare the result with similar videos at the same age before you change the slot again.
