Redexa Social

Connect Instagram to Redexa Social with your own Meta app

The five steps of the in-app wizard: create a Meta app, add Instagram business login, paste the redirect address, copy the app ID and secret. About 10 minutes.

Before you start

You need an Instagram Professional account (Business or Creator) and a Facebook account to open the Meta developer dashboard. It takes about ten minutes, once. The app ID and secret you create stay on your PC, encrypted with Windows DPAPI.

Why this is needed

Exchanging Instagram’s login code needs an app secret, and a secret inside a downloadable program is readable by anyone who unpacks it. The standard connection is not available yet, so the app offers this guided route.

After connecting

The account’s followers and the insights of its latest 10 posts appear after the next refresh, and the account counts toward your plan’s linked accounts. You can remove your own app from the same screen at any time.

Step by step

  1. Open the wizard. In Redexa Social open Link account › Instagram and press Connect it now to start the own-app guide.
  2. Create the app. Open the Meta developer dashboard and click Create app. When asked for the use case pick Other, then choose Business as the type. The name is up to you.
  3. Add Instagram. In your new app open Add products, find Instagram and click Set up, then choose API setup with Instagram business login.
  4. Paste the redirect address. In Business login settings paste the address the wizard shows into OAuth redirect URI and save. It is https://aurelioavila.github.io/social-dashboard/instagram-callback, a page that already exists, so you do not publish anything.
  5. Copy the two credentials. Copy the Instagram app ID and Instagram app secret from the app settings into the wizard and press Save and connect, then sign in to your account.
