Why you need your own app today
Instagram’s login flow ends with a code that has to be exchanged for a token with an app secret. A secret compiled into a downloadable program can be read back by anyone who unpacks it, so Redexa Social does not ship one. Until a standard connection is available, the app’s Link account screen offers a guided setup instead: you register your own Meta app, paste its two credentials, and the secret stays on your PC, encrypted with Windows DPAPI.
What the connection reads
For each connected account the app reads the follower count and the latest 10 posts, and for each post the insight metrics views, reach, likes, comments, shares, saved and total interactions. These are the media insights Meta exposes for Professional accounts; personal accounts have no insights to read.
What it cannot do
There is no posting, editing, commenting or messaging code. Rivals, the comparison with other people’s channels, is YouTube only: Instagram only allows reading another account through Business Discovery, from a Business account towards Business accounts, which fails for most pairs.
Engagement, defined
The Analytics screen reports engagement as the share of people reached who liked, commented, shared or saved. The comparison with accounts of your size uses a different measure, interactions divided by followers, because that is how the public benchmark reports define it; the two are never mixed in one number.
