YouTube views not updating? Check these five things first

Rounded subscriber counts, public-only video counts, an expired connection, an old refresh or a stale cache: why YouTube numbers look stuck and how to check.

Some numbers move in steps by design

The YouTube Data API rounds subscriber counts down to three significant figures, so a channel at 12,345 reads as 12,300 until it passes 12,400. The video count includes public videos only, even for the owner, so private and unlisted uploads do not move it. Since 24 August 2026 YouTube counts a view as soon as a video starts playing, autoplay included, which can make API figures differ from older screenshots.

A zero is not always a zero

A video at zero views can be brand new, can belong to a channel whose connection expired, or can come from a refresh that never completed. Redexa Social’s Diagnostics tells these apart: it flags connections that need relinking, “0 views on latest videos”, and content that has been idle for days, each with a next step. Treat a missing figure as unknown, not as poor performance.

When the app is the problem

If a figure still looks wrong after a refresh, Clear cached data rebuilds every number from the next refresh without touching linked accounts or your licence. If YouTube Studio shows the same figure, the delay is on YouTube’s side and no tool can make it update sooner.

Step by step

  1. Check when data last arrived. Open Analytics and read Last data load. If it is old, press Refresh.
  2. Open Diagnostics. Look for a channel marked Needs relinking. Access expired or was revoked by the platform: link it again from Link account.
  3. Compare with YouTube Studio. If YouTube Studio shows the same number, it is YouTube’s count, rounding or delay, not the dashboard.
  4. Account for rounding. Subscriber counts move in steps of the third significant figure; compare over several days.
  5. Clear the cache as a last resort. Use Clear cached data, then Refresh. Linked accounts and the licence stay as they are.
